Peas Please!

Since it has been so warm and sunny in Seattle lately, our garden has been growing like crazy! Our pea plants outgrew their tomato cages and we had to find them something taller to grow up on. We used some old tent poles that we were going to throw away since we ordered replacement poles. Eric made the poles into a tripod and we're hoping the peas will grow up them okay. There still is no sign of pea pods to eat though, just a lot of long vines!

Since the peas are kind of taking over the picture, we took one of another area of the garden. The huge leaves here are of our broccoli. The broccoli leaves are actually really cool. I don't know what it is about them, but it is really neat to watch them when you water them. They are like waterproof or something and the water just runs right off of them...Maybe I'm just easily amused! We also have a strawberry, cucumber and spinach plants in this picture.

The box we've been using is shaded by a huge tree most of the day and we haven't been able to get our beans, tomatoes or peppers to grow there. We moved those full sun plants to a different box that gets more sun, but we don't have a good picture of that one yet. Maybe in a future post!

We were really excited that we actually got to eat something from our garden this weekend! We picked some of our spinach leaves and used them in a salad. We were so proud of ourselves of having made our own food from a little seed! :) Hopefully we'll be able to eat more of our garden food soon!
