Toothless Grins, Playtime & Hiking

Dear Mia,

I can't believe that you are already 3 months old!  I'm sure I'm going to say this in another 20 years, but it honestly feels like you were just born yesterday.  So much has changed in the past month.  You are getting enough food because you are getting bigger and have been collecting rolls on your arms and legs.  At your last doctor's appointment (10.5 weeks), you weighed 10 lbs. 6 oz.  The doctor said you were in the 20th percentile for weight and that it was good because last time you were in the 10th percentile, so you're staying on your growth curve.  He also measured your head circumference and you jumped from the 20th to the 40th percentile. His comment was that you were doing great with your brain growth.  :)  Everyone comments on how long you are, but your height w
as in the 50th percentile, so I guess that's average.  Overall, you are doing great.  The doctor even said that some of your movements were advanced for your age.  Good job Mia!  You got some of your vaccinations that day too and it was the sadest thing to watch.  :(  I almost started crying with you.  Luckily, you didn't cry for too long though.  We figured out partly why you had been such a slow eater.  You have acid reflux stuff going on and that explains why you have massive amounts of spit up sometimes and why you get really fussy at certain times of the day, like bedtime.  Luckily the medicine is helping you with that a lot.  We just have to remember to give it to you at the right times of the day.

Tonight I had sooo much fun playing with you.  You were so alert!  I laid you on the floor in the middle of the room and you just kept watching Lexi run back and forth after her socks that I threw for her.  You liked tummy time tonight too and actually rolled over onto your back all by yourself.  You did it twice and then you didn't want to do it anymore.  I loved making faces at you and watching you make them back at me.  Hopefully we can play with Daddy next time!

Here are some things I love about you right now:
- Your toothless grins!  :)  They make any day a great day!
- The perfect timing of your smiles.  Yesterday you had a massive spit up and it was covering your front, your back, the burp cloth and your bouncy chair.  You were soaked in it!  I looked at you though and you had the biggest smile...I guess you felt better, so there was no reason for you to be upset!
- The way you hold your head up high and look over my shoulder when I try to burp you.  You just look so proud of yourself!
- The way you grip my shirt or hair when I hold you.  I never want to let you go.
- Your alertness.  You are so much more observant of the things going on around you.
- The cute coos and babble noises you are starting to make.
- The way you like to stare at me.  When you were younger, you rarely made eye contact, but now you love to stare.
- Your big blue eyes.

Love ya!

xoxo
