Kauai

Back in February, Eric and I got to join my parents on a trip to Kauai. It was the first time either one of us had been to Hawaii and I'm pretty certain that it won't be the last!! We had so much fun and absolutely loved it! I'm finally getting around to posting pictures from our trip!

Here are pictures of our resort.
Here are pictures of Waimea Canyon. This was the first spot we went to after arriving there.

We all went a hike along the Napali Coast and we loved the views of the ocean and the coast that came up along the entire hike.Next time we go there, we want to do an overnight hike and go farther to see a waterfall.

These are pictures of the Northern coast of Kauai.
We did a lot of fun things while we were in Kauai. The snorkeling and scuba diving was probably our favorite. One of the coolest places we have ever been diving was at Sheraton Caverns. We got to swim with tons of sea turtles!! And I accidentally bumped into one...really it was an accident! I ended up pressing the wrong button on my diving gear and instead of going down, like I wanted to do, I went shooting up to the surface and on my way up I ran right into a turtle that was just cruising along. Our dive instructor wasn't very impressed and kind of ignored us for the rest of the trip, but Eric thought it was really funny to watch! We also found out what area to take my parents snorkeling to see a turtle and they ended up finding one and swam right along with it at the surface. We missed that one, but my parents sure had fun!

We also had a really neat experience while snorkeling on our last morning there before we flew out. We weren't going to go snorkeling because we had our gear all dry and packed up, but decided to go last minute and we were so glad we did. We ended up seeing a ton more fish that day and they were all swimming right with Eric and I. They would move forward when we did and turn when we did and stop when we did. Eric was even able to touch the tails of some of them and they didn't swim away. It was so cool!
The only negative thing about the entire trip was that the first morning we were there, we got woken up by extremely loud sirens right outside our hotel. We got there on the day of the earthquake in Chile and that morning the sirens went off to warn us of the Tidal Wave Warning for the islands of Hawaii. The hotel made everyone evacuate and pack up everything. We ended up waiting at a golf course that was up higher on a mountain and watched the coast. We saw absolutely nothing and spent half a day there. I guess we can't even say it was a negative thing though, because at least there wasn't a big tidal wave! We were then able to enjoy the rest of our trip there!

My parents are already starting to talk about planning another trip there and we sure hope we're invited because we had a blast and hope to go back soon! Thanks Mom and Dad for a great time! We love you!
