Mia- 6 & 7 Months

Dear Mia,
I can't believe that you are over half a year old! Life has been sooo much fun with you lately. You are discovering new things and developing new abilities everyday. We are so proud of you! You like to grab your feet anytime you are laying on your back. And you roll over almost anytime we put you down on your stomach. You have developed a huge vocabulary of sounds. Daddy and I have fun trying to mimic what you say. It's pretty entertaining actually. You have started eating solids too. Sometimes you love bananas and other times you hate them. You love applesauce and squash though. You just tried avocados yesterday and you're still trying to figure out whether or not you like those. I'm glad you're not as picky with food as you are with milk. You only like the real stuff and you always turn your nose up at the formula.
You are getting so big now! I had you next to a newborn last week and I couldn't believe how much bigger you are now. It happened so fast! You like to move a lot too. Everyone asks us if you are crawling yet and we tell them that you can crawl backwards, but not forwards. You roll over all the time to get places and you always try to crawl towards your toys, but you end up pushing yourself farther away. You've almost figured it out though! Today you actually were up on your hands and knees and you had lifted your body off the ground, but you weren't putting enough pressure on your knees. It's only a matter of time...I think I'm most excited about you crawling and having races with Lexi. I think she's going to be scared of you when you first start crawling after her! It's going to be fun!
Unfortunately you seem to hate bedtime. Once we have you asleep, you sleep through the night and Daddy and I really appreciate it. However, it is always a challenge to get you to go to sleep. We have tried all different tricks and they will work for a couple days, but you are soo smart. Once you catch on, you know how to fight it. We think you try to talk to keep yourself awake. Your talking turns into this cute little sigh when you're about to fall asleep...it's so cute!
We love that you smile so big all of the time. You are a very happy baby and we feel so bad anytime you cry because most of the time you are so easy going. Daddy has been able to get you to laugh a handful of times, but it takes so much work. You'll have to tell us someday what the trick is to the laughter. Peek-a-boo seems to be one way to get you to laugh, but you don't always laugh...only sometimes. You smile so easily, so it seems like laughing should be easy too...we're still working on that one. The laughs you have given us have all been so different, but they are adorable. You have a new smile that you started showing us a few days ago. You kind of scrunch your eyes and nose together and smile really big. Usually you blow out your nose at the same time. We're not sure where you got that from, but it's really funny. :)
We love you so much and can't stop giving you hugs and kisses! You are adorable and we just adore you! We're so glad that we get to have you as our baby girl forever!
Things we love about you right now:
- Your scrunched up smile
- How excited you get when you see Mommy or Daddy
- The way you smile at Lexi
- Your tight hold on our shoulders when we hold you...it's like you never want to let go.
- The sounds you make
- Your excitement when we teach you baby sign language.
- The face you make everytime you take the first bite of each meal...usually you like what you eat, but you always seem to think it's going to be gross before you have even tried it.
- The fact that you fall asleep to Mommy's singing, even though the words aren't always right.
- How curious and excited you are about everything you see
- The reaction you give us when we guess what you want correctly (ex: change your diaper when you're fussy)
Love,
Mommy
