Dear Mia,
You are such an awesome 2 year old! So far, I don't think that "The Terrible Two's" are quite so bad. Occasionally you throw a temper tantrum and end up screaming, shreiking and kicking while laying on the floor, but most of the time you are super happy. I love that you are able to communicate so many things now too. You definitely wear your emotions on your sleeve, which can be hard sometimes. You especially get upset if I tell you we are going to do something and then change my mind. Sometimes it's because Ari is crying and I have to take care of her and sometimes it's because the weather isn't right, so we have to cancel. Hopefully we can work on preparing you better for when that happens, so you don't get so upset.
When we first brought Ari home, I was super worried about how I was going to be able to handle taking care of both of you. I shouldn't have stressed about it so much! You are such a good helper. You love helping me by getting things for Ari and putting dishes away in the dishwasher. You have even started helping me by putting laundry in the washing machine. It's amazing seeing how much you have developed over the last couple months.
Happy 2nd Birthday! You definitely got spoiled this year. Looking at the pictures here, I think we covered all of your favorites. Whenever we go on walks, you get soo excited when you see people riding their bikes and you just keep pointing and yelling bike, bike, bike, even after they are long gone. We got you a pink tricycle and you love riding it everytime we go outside. You also love bubbles. You will sit her next to me and blow bubbles all day long. Lexi likes to eat them, so that adds some more excitement. Sometimes we even have to bring your bubbles with us when we leave the house. I decided to make you a trifle for your birthday because berries are your absolute favorite! You seem to prefer raspberries, but you still will gobble up strawberries and blueberries. You really liked your cake this year, probably because of the berries. Last year, you hardly ate any of your birthday cake. I would say that was a huge improvement!

Now that you can communicate better and have a pretty big vocabulary, you have been giving us lots of laughs. We finally started writing some of these down, so we can record them.
On Mother's Day, at church, all of the men in the ward went up front to sing a song to all of the women. Unfortunately, I wasn't there because Ari had kept me up all night. Daddy said that when he came back to his seat, you ran to the end of the aisle and clapping and yelling "Daddy, Daddy!" Everyone in the back of the chapel started laughing and thought it was super cute that you were so proud of your Daddy for going up there to sing.
Anytime only one of us is out in the family room with you, you keep telling us that the other parent is sleeping. Most of the time, you are telling me that Daddy is sleeping when he is actually at work. I you got used to us taking a lot of naps when your Grandmas were here helping us take care of you. :)
A few weeks ago, I told you that Daddy was going to be home soon and showed you where you could watch out the window for his blue car to pull into the driveway. Now you are obessessed with talking about the blue car and looking for it. All day long you say "Daddy work." "Daddy home soon." "Daddy blue car." Even if Daddy left 5 mins ago, you still tell me he'll be home soon.
Before Daddy's office moved to a new location, he was close enough to come home for lunch. He came home everyday for his last week at the old location and you loved it. One day, while in your highchair, you kept saying "Daddy home lunch soon." When I told you I didn't know when he'd be home, you responded with "Where is blue car?" (Yes. All four words.) Then you repeated over and over again, "Chuga. Chuga. Beep. Beep." It was super cute.
Another time, Daddy and I were discussing something that we didn't agree on and all of the sudden you looked up at us and said, "Love." Then you continued playing with your toys.
Daddy used to work from home once a week, while I went to Dr. appointments before Ari was born. In order to keep you entertained and be able to work at the same time, Daddy started playing car racing videos from youtube on his monitor. After that, you seemed to think that watching car videos was all that Daddy did at work all day. Anytime I said that Daddy was at work, you'd respond with a comment about cars. A little while later, Daddy picked up on something that he must say a lot while watching these videos with you. A car was drifting around a corner and all of the sudden you said, "Yeah Baby!" He didn't think he heard you correctly and had to play the video again and you said the same thing. Then he realized that maybe he does say that a lot while watching car videos. I guess we need to watch what we say now because you seem to be repeating everything! :)
The other day we were walking out to the car and our neighbor said, Hi. I turned to you and said, "Can you say hi, Mia?" You turned to the neighbor and kept saying "Hi Mia!"
I can't wait to see what the next year brings! Hopefully a lot more laughs! We love you so much Mia and couldn't have asked for a better daughter!
XOXO,
Mommy
