Goodbye Rain! Hello Sunshine!

Now it's time for our big announcement!  We moved to Utah!  We had known for a while that it was time for us to move from Woodinville, but we hadn't been able to figure out where we were supposed to go. We had been looking within our same stake in WA, but still didn't seem to find an area that felt like it was the right place for us.  Then we went on our ski trip to Utah.  After watching the girls play with their cousins and seeing how much fun they had together, we knew Utah was where we were supposed to be.  We came home at the very end of February and Eric started applying for jobs right away.  He interviewed at multiple companies and got an offer from Novell 30 days after he started applying for jobs.  It was kind of crazy how the whole job came about too.  The HR Recruiter didn't realize until mid-interview that Eric was from out of state and said they usually didn't consider applicants from out of state.  She also said that they had already offered the job to someone else, who turned it down for another job offer.  It was just meant to be!  On top of how fast the offer came, they wanted Eric to start 2.5 weeks later, which meant we had to move that fast. I was super impressed with ourselves.  We had never moved.  We did it though!  With lots of help from all of our friends in Washington, we made it to Utah 2.5 weeks later.  Eric loves his new job too.  Novell is a great company and he is working with databases, which is what he loves!

We are in an apartment in Pleasant Grove right now and we actually have found a house already, that we love.  We are just waiting for it to close.  At the end of May we will be moving to our new home in Spanish Fork.  We already love the ward and the surrounding area and are super excited about it!  It is super crazy how it all came about too.  Before we got to Utah, we had narrowed down our search to Springville or Spanish Fork.  There was one house in particular that we had really liked in Spanish Fork, but it sold the day we got here, so we weren't able to actually go and see it.  Eric really wanted to go and check out the ward that it was in, so we went that first Sunday.  We loved everyone that we talked to and wanted to stay in that ward.  At the time though, we had thought we really needed a 4 bedroom house and there weren't any that size for sale within the ward boundaries.  We looked at other houses in surrounding neighborhoods and in Springville.  We had even picked out another house in Springville that we loved.  It was near parks and in the boundaries of a great school.  We looked at it on a Monday and really liked it, but I wanted to go back and look one more time before putting down an offer.  On Tuesday, right at the end of our appointment, the owners came home and were talking to me about the house, when all of the sudden this guy pulls up. He jumps out of his car and asks if the home is still for sale.  After the owner confirms that it is, the guy says he'd like to see it because he'd like to turn it into a rental property.  We put in our offer that night and found out the next day that he had made a cash offer and was able to close 2 weeks later.  We were super bummed because I had already started meeting some of the neighbors and had fallen in love with the area.  The following Sunday, we decided to go to the ward that house was part of.  The girls were so restless during church that we didn't even make it through the first hour.  Eric and I both felt like it wasn't the right place for us because most of the families there were a lot older and most had teenagers.  We didn't feel like there were very many kids for the girls to play with.  After we ruled out Springville, we focused our efforts on Spanish Fork.  We decided that maybe we should consider a smaller, 3 bedroom house so that we could be with more younger families with little kids, like ours.  We walked through two that didn't have the best layouts and almost ruled out that size house.  There was only one left to walk through that day and it was the only one for sale in the ward that we had liked that first Sunday.  Even though it was the same square footage as the others we had walked through previously, it had a much better layout.  It also had a nice fenced yard with a huge garden area.  We loved it!  Apparently there were at least 2 other offers put down on that house that same night and we heard that ours just barely won over the others.  We are so excited and can't wait to move in!  It's right by a big ball field with parks and walking trails.  There are a bunch of festivals all summer that take place right by there, so we'll be close to so much stuff!  The Sunday after our offer was accepted, we went to that ward again and loved it just as much as the first time.  Everyone seemed super close, and we could tell they were all good friends.  We met some of our new neighbors and found some friends who knew friends of ours in Woodinville.  There was even someone who had lived in Woodinville years ago.  We found where we are supposed to be and we can't wait to start our new adventure as home owners!
