2012 Catch Up

Dear Mia,
Since it has been 6 months since I last posted, this catch up post will be mostly pictures.  Back in August, we had a family reunion in Vegas.  You got to hang out with Grandma JJ, Grandpa Paul, Auntie Keri, Uncle Jeremy, Chloe and Grandma LuLu.  We had lots of fun exploring Jeremy's family's cabin in Duck Creek Village and then exploring the strip in Vegas.  You were way too friendly and kept holding your hands up for everyone on the strip to hold you.  Some of those strangers you reached up for were pretty scary.  We made you stay in the stroller just to make sure you didn't get picked up.  We also took you to see the dolphins, white tigers and jaguars.  You loved the dolphins and learned how to roar, like a tiger.  We also spent lots of time at the lazy river and ended the trip with a visit from Grandma LuLu.

For Halloween, we took you trick or treating at Daddy's office.  We had you dress up in a chick costume, but since you couldn't say chick or cheep, we told everyone you were a duck.  You liked to say duck and quack quack quack at the time.  Everyone thought your fluffy yellow costume was super cute!

18 Months was a super fun age for you.  You started expressing your personality.  You have also started talking a ton.  You love to play with balls outside and you have loved cars for quite a while.  Your Daddy is super proud of your love of cars.  The Disney movie, Cars, was the first movie we got you sit through the entire time.  You like to make car sounds and always say more once you see one.  You still love bubbles.  We have stopped pulling them out for you to play with though, because you cry too hard when it's time to put them away.  Lexi is your best friend.  You used to call her Lali, but now you say Lesi.  Randomly during the day you will just call for her and say "Puppy" in a stern voice.  It's fun watching you laugh and play with her even though she has no idea what you are trying to do.  You are definitely a Daddy's girl.  You always laugh harder for him and run to give him hugs when he comes home from work.  Anytime there is a guy in the room you immediately want to sit in his lap, whether you know him or not.  For some reason you are shy around women though and take your time warming up them.  Now at 21 months, you have started saying "No."  We miss our cute little angel who used to only shake her head yes or no, but we still love you!  You are adorable and we're so glad that you are part of our family.

We decided to take advantage of the pretty fall leaves and take family pictures.  We realized how hard it is to get you to focus without having extra people there.  We still got some cute ones though!  We are especially proud of the one Daddy took of you and Lexi.  It's a great picture of our two girls hanging out together!  Around when these pictures were taken, we announced that we were expecting your baby sister to arrive.  She won't be here until April, but you are so excited.  We took you to a friend's house the other day and you were more interested in seeing her baby sister than you were in seeing your friend.  It was cute.  Last week you went in your room all on your own and grabbed a diaper and pack of wet wipes and brought them out to your baby doll in the family room and proceded to change her diaper.  I think you were practing for when your sister comes.  You even leaned over earlier today to give your baby sister a kiss and a hug.  You're going to be an awesome big sister!

Here are some of the pictures from Christmas time.  Even though you met Santa last year and kept saying his name the whole way to his house, you cried when we put you on his lap.  All you wanted was Momma.  We felt bad for torturing you, but every kid has their picture crying with Santa, right?  You got to see him again a few weeks later and you wouldn't let go of me.  After hanging around him for about 10 minutes you finally were brave enough to wave at him and blow him a kiss.  We'll have to see what happens next year!

We got some super cute pictures of you when we went to cut down our Christmas tree this year.  You were so excited to go out and pick a tree.  You even gave the winning tree hugs!  You were so proud to help Daddy with the saw too.  You were such a good little helper!

That's all of the pictures for now, but I'll put up some more soon!  We love you Mia and are so proud of everything you learn everyday.  Lately you have been learning your ABC's and Counting.  We put you down for naps and hear you in your crib trying to remember the order.  Usually you say 5, 6, 7, 8, 7, 8, 10.  Or you'll say L, M, O, P, S, T.  If we help you though, you will say them all in the right order.  Thanks for all of your love!

Love,
Mommy
