Dear Mia,
Mia Bear!! You are so cute! I can't believe how big you're getting! You are very independent and a super good helper with your younger sisters. We are so proud of you and love your sweet, bouncy, energetic personality.
As long as you think it will be fun, you love you help with all kinds of things. You change Ari's diaper sometimes, love to sing or talk to Callie to keep her from fussing, unswaddle and unzip or unbutton Callie's PJ's every morning, and love to bake or cook with me (especially if it's a treat).
Lately, you have been doing more things with friends. You met a new friend (Emri) in your preschool class and apparently you guys hit it off on day 1. You've played at each other's houses and you are always talking about what you did with her in class that day. You both seem to have very outgoing personalities. You also requested a playdate with a boy for the first time. I asked one morning who you'd like to play with that day and you said, Jack. I kind of paused for a minute because you almost always play with girls and had to think of what toys we could get out that a boy would be interested in. It was totally fine though. We ended up going to the park and I got to hang out with his Mom and Ari was able to play with his brother. You also have been spending a lot of time with Julia. We've been watching her on Fridays and you guys have a lot of fun. You love showing Callie off to your friends. Ari just plays right along with you, but you always ask if your friends want to see your baby sister.
You seem to be in a "what if" mode right now. Every time we sit down to eat you come up with some random thing that you think would be funny. One that comes to mind is, "Mom, would it be funny if we ate you?" That time I responded with, "No. It would be sad. I wouldn't be able to see you anymore. That's just silly." Then you and Ari go off on tangents and share the biggest laughs repeating it over and over. After watching the Frozen Fever clip, where Elsa keeps sneezing and making little baby snowmen pop up all over the place, you had another funny one. We sat down for dinner, right after watching it and said, "Would it be funny if when we tooted, little baby snowmen came out?" Your Dad and I tried hard not to laugh, but couldn't help it. The things you come up with....I think we have a lot of laughs coming our way. :)
I think your imagination has started getting you in trouble. You have started telling lies. Most of the time you lie because you know you got caught doing something that you'll get in trouble for. Sometimes it's about chores and you tell me you did them, just because you hope you won't have to finish it, but then I go around the corner and see that it wasn't done. The odd thing is that frequently you lie about things that you don't gain anything for lying about. We're still trying to figure out how to convince you that lying is not good. You told me that you just like telling lies! You even lied about eating candy at the store the other day. I was checking out at Micheal's and you kept trying to hide in the Pepsi bottle refrigerator. You looked funny because you were just standing between the glass door and the fridge and weren't hidden at all. I kept telling you we needed to let it close to keep the drinks cold and you kept ignoring me. When you finally came over to me, I noticed you were chewing something. I asked a couple times what you were eating and you kept saying, nothing. Then I asked what was in your mouth and you said, "Nothing is in my mouth right now (you had just swallowed it)." I finally explained that I knew I hadn't given you anything to eat recently and that I needed to pay for whatever it was that you had eaten, if it was from the store. You brought me over to the Lindt Chocolate Truffle box, which was right next to the Pepsi cooler and said you had eaten one of those. I found the empty wrapper and asked the cashier to ring it up. You were embarrassed and buried yourself in the stroller, next to Ari. You wouldn't even say sorry, which normally you will say right away, when I ask you to. Hopefully we can teach you about honesty in a way that will convince you to stop lying! Who would have known that a 4.5 year old is old enough to steal from a store?
Currently, your favorite thing is reading! You have been doing awesome! We've been reading a book called, "Teaching Your Child to Read in 100 Lessons." You love it. We work on letter sounds, sounding out words and reading sentences and understanding them. You never want to stop! You even have been able to read some simple books from the Library and will just sit and read those ones to Ari over and over. When we're driving in the car, you'll try to read the words on the signs we pass. You seem to comprehend what you read too. It's been so fun to watch you progress and listen to you try to figure that stuff out. You're pretty awesome, Mia!
We love you Mia! It's great having your energy and happiness in our home. It makes the rest of us happier too. :)
XOXO,
Mommy

This past week Mia started saying, "Bye Dad! Choose the right!" every morning to Daddy before he leaves for work. She used to say, "Bye Dad! Do what everyone tells you to!" but Eric suggested that maybe we say, "Choose the right" and apparently it stuck. :)

Mia (every morning before their light turns green to show they can come out of their room): Mommy...Daddy...Where are you? Our light isn't working...
Mia told me that I am a COOL MOM!!! All because I laminated some ABC cards she has been playing with. :) The girls watched me laminate them and thought the laminator was the coolest thing ever. If it gets me a "cool Mom" status, I might have to pull it out more often! :)

Mia informed me this morning that Daddy is an oat monster in the mornings, a work monster at work, a tickle monster on the stairs and a snuggle monster on the couch. :)

We were reading The Three Little
Pigs and the girls kept pointing and saying, “The big bad "Woof" is
coming!” I had to laugh because Grandma
JJ can’t pronounce “wolf.” She says “woof” too and we’ve always teased her
about it. I guess she has read that
story to them!

Mia counting with Daddy:
"eighty, ninety, tendy"
Eric (about Callie): You're such a
cutie!
Mia: Your name will be, Cutie! Callie Ann Cutie!
Mia: Your name will be, Cutie! Callie Ann Cutie!
Mia (about fudge track ice cream): “Mmm!
There's good chocolate wood chips in there. What are those wood chip things?”

Grandpa – “Why are you so cute?”
Mia – “Because we love being cute.”

Mia is starting to figure out math.
She came up to Eric and said, "5 and 5 make 10." He said, "Yes,
they do. How do you know that?" Mia said, "I have 5 and 5 fingers."
Later that day she told us 3 and 3 make 6.
One morning Mia started finally
showing interest in her baby dolls. As I started nursing Callie, she said,
"Look Mom, I'm feeding my baby too, just like Callie." She had her
shirt up and the baby was in a perfect nursing position.

I asked Mia what she learned at
church and she told me about her lesson on temples. I told her that I had
learned about temples in my class too. Mia then looked at Ari and said,
"Ari didn't. She learned about toys."

I had set up a movie for the girls
to watch on my laptop. Ari started saying, "Xbox pause," to pause it
and obviously it didn't work. Mia looked at Ari and said, "It's not an Xbox,
Ari, so that won't work." Mia paused for a second and then repeatedly
said, "Laptop pause!"
Mia pronounces dealership as
"dollarship"
Mia found Ari's mouse Halloween
costume from when she was a baby and said repeatedly that she was going to wear
it this year for Halloween. At one point, she said she couldn't wait for Santa
to see how cute she looked in it.
Randomly, Mia will ask about the
sandman and ask if he came to see all of us at night. We put a fan in front of
their door one night, to cool the room down, and she started crying. When we
asked her what happened, she said she didn't know how the sandman was going to
be able to come into her room.

Whenever Mia sees bird poop on
things outside, she says it's a "milk stain", probably because it's
white. When we tell her it's actually bird poop, she then refers to it as
a "bird stain".

Mia told Paula, “We didn't have a
real turkey for Thanksgiving. It didn't have eyes on it.”
