When we found out my parents were in Cheyenne, WY, just north of Denver, we decided to meet up with them for a weekend in Steamboat Springs, CO. We had never been to Colorado, but have always thought it might be a place we'd like to live someday. Steamboat Springs was a super cute town. We only drove through the western side of Colorado, but we got the impression that the eastern side might be more green, like Seattle. One day, we'll have to head over that way.
We had a lot of fun exploring all that Steamboat Springs had to offer. Grandma and Grandpa took us to a soda fountain to get ice cream. We found out about a bar called Schmiggity's, which is what Eric randomly nicknamed all of our girls when they were little. We had to stop by there to take a picture! He thought he made that word up! The girls tried on hats and looked super adorable in them. We hugged the wooden bears along the street and checked out some different parks along the Yampa River Trail.
We went on a lot of hikes, since that was the most toddler friendly activity there and the girls loved it! The first hike was to see Fish Creek Falls. We got to do that one with Grandma and Grandpa. We also hiked Mad Creek Trail and found a cute creek at the bottom to throw rocks and splash around in. The girls liked building rock towers too. We weren't sure how much the girls would like hiking, but they loved it. We were constantly on the look out for animals at this hike and we found 9 chipmunks, 3 squirrels, 1 snake, 4 flying grasshoppers, 6 lizards, 1 fish, and 1 ladybug. It was pretty exciting!
We took a break from hiking one day and went to check out Steamboat Lake. The girls LOVE playing in the sand, so every time we go on vacation they are always asking if we get to play at the beach. Luckily, we were able to find a fun spot to go. They built a sand castle, splashed around in the water, ate a picnic lunch and had fun! It was a pretty spot too, with the beautiful mountain views all around us.
We found a fun playground just outside of town and Daddy went crazy! He played on all of the equipment more than the girls! I guess he had a lot of energy to get out! The girls just kind of stopped and stared for a few minutes and then decided to jump in on the fun.
Another hike we did was the Spring Creek Trail. This trail led us to a pretty pond and had a few spots to walk around in the creek along the way. We also found a pretty drive up to Buffalo Pass and enjoyed talking pictures of the pretty views while the girls took a nap in the car.
Although Callie doesn't show up in too many of the other pictures, she really was there tagging along with all of us! She got to hang out in the Ergo on the hikes and we'd pull her out to pose for pictures when we found the sunlight hitting us just right! Look at her beautiful eyes in these ones!
